Copenhagen Vocal Ensemble Musica Ficta

Ensembles

Musica Ficta is a professional vocal ensemble, formed in 1996 by the composer and conductor Bo Holten. Here he has realized his vision of a flexible and project-oriented ensemble, where the virtuoso ensemble singing in all its guises is at the center.

Musica Ficta consists of a core group of 12 of Denmark's best ensemble singers, but it is always the individual tasks that determine the ensemble's size and voice composition. In this way you can experience Musica Ficta with everything from three female voices to a baroque ensemble of 16 singers.

Musica Ficta embraces a very wide repertoire. The ensemble's specialty, however, is the music from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, where the composers did not write their great works for symphony orchestras, but for the human voice. Musica Ficta's artistic director and conductor, Bo Holten, is among the world leaders in this field.

Musica Ficta also considers the work with the Danish song treasure to be a central part of its work. In a world of mainstream, the ensemble works to keep introducing the best of the overlooked and the rare. The desire is especially to introduce new and at home overlooked corners of the world of vocal music.
