The Royal Chapel is the world's oldest orchestra with a history dating back to 1448.

The orchestra, which is particularly famous for its string sound, and has an exclusive collection of string instruments by the great Italian masters at its disposal, today plays for both opera, ballet and concerts at the Royal Theater. In addition, the orchestra plays a number of popular chamber concerts each season on the Opera's small stage Takkelloftet.
